This body of work is about shapes, both ambiguous and explicit, and how their meanings change based on their relationships to one another – dreamscapes to read which morph based on your own point of view.
The first collection was formed in black and white, emphasizing the simplicity of form. The spring release adds color theory to these shapes, mimicking the vibrant green of spring and everything in relationship to it. The tiny blooms that stand out from afar and the silhouette of home in the bright sun.
These forms began as the inkblots of my memories built during hours spent rocking my baby while she slept. In the transition into motherhood, from very busy days to slow monotonous weeks at home, I found myself drawing in my head when I couldn’t physically do so. It was like a puzzle to keep me entertained and a respite from the anxiety ridden research of too many baby experts.
The solo time spent in my studio building this work became a connection back to myself and future inspiration for her in the making. Never have I wanted to make anyone more proud.
